NMH Concert features World Music Combo and Chamber Orchestra

NORTHFIELD, Mass.—On Sunday, May 16, Northfield Mount Hermon School will present a concert featuring the World Music Combo and Chamber Orchestra in the Olivia Music Hall on the Northfield campus.

The World Music Combo, directed by Ron Smith, is in its second year. Its specialized instrumentation includes soprano sax, acoustic guitar, vocals and two percussionists. On the bill will be Latin-styled music by Chuck Mangione, African drumming, and straight-ahead jazz.

The Chamber Orchestra, directed by Steven Bathory-Peeler, is made up of the school’s best string players.The performance will include music by Alan Hovhannes and Paul Scott; a special highlight will be a performance of Pergolesi’s “Serpina’s Aria” (from the opera La Serva Padrona) by senior Rachel Spector.
