’Tis the Season for Christmas Vespers 

NORTHFIELD , Mass. —A musical highlight of the Christmas season is the traditional Christmas Vespers service by the Northfield Mount Hermon School choirs and chamber orchestra. This year the service will take place at 4 pm and 7 pm , Sunday, December 14, at Memorial Chapel on the Mount Hermon campus and features music from the medieval, renaissance, and baroque periods. The musical groups will also present the service at First Congregational Church in Southington , Conn. , at 7 pm , Thursday, December 18. The services are open to the public

Music by von Bingen, Dufay, and Despres will be presented by the NMH Singers, Concert Choir, and Select Women’s Ensemble. The Chamber Orchestra will perform music of Corelli, Handel, and Rowley. The combined groups will perform movements from the Vivaldi “Magnificat” and Bach’s Cantata No. 140, “Wachet Auf.”
