Samantha Salsbury’s Poem Honors MLK at NMH 

NORTHFIELD, Mass.—Samantha Salsbury of Spofford, N.H., a sophomore at Northfield Mount Hermon School, won the school’s essay/poetry contest honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with her poem “Drum Major for Justice.” Her award of $200 was presented at an all-school meeting in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 19. Guest speaker at the meeting was Patrice Gaines, former Washington Post reporter and author of Laughing in the Dark: From Colored Girl to Woman of Color—A Journey from Prison to Power.
