NORTHFIELD , Mass. — Northfield Mount Hermon School will celebrate spring, Mother’s Day, and one of the school’s oldest and most cherished traditions, the Concert of Sacred Music, on Sunday, May 9 at 2:30 pm in the Auditorium on the Northfield campus.

Many NMH alumni return year after year to join faculty, staff, and students in presenting the musical program, which is under the direction of Sheila L. The Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, NMH Singers, Select Women’s Ensemble, and Alumni Choir will perform selections that range from Sibelius’s We Would Be One to Randall Thompson’s Alleluia, to Peter Louis van Dijk’s Horizons, a lullaby based on South Africa ’s encounters with Dutch conquerors. The concert also includes a performance of Heffernon’s Little Lamb.

Preceding the concert, Reverend Elizabeth Stookey will lead an 11 am m ultifaith service on Round Top, the landmark burial site of school founder D.L. Moody on the Northfield campus (rain location will be the Olivia Music Building). The public is welcome to both the service and the Concert of Sacred Music, which is free of charge.
