NMH Hosts Robert DeCormier and Vocal Group Counterpoint

NORTHFIELD, Mass.—Vermont’s vocal ensemble Counterpoint and their director Robert DeCormier will perform in concert at Northfield Mount Hermon School at 4 pm, Sunday, January 25, in Memorial Chapel, Mount Hermon campus, Gill, Mass. DeCormier, music director for folk trio Peter, Paul, and Mary, will present a workshop for the choral groups at NMH prior to the concert. The concert is open to the public and admission is $10.
DeCormier was conductor and arranger for Harry Belafonte and music director of the New York Choral Society. He has composed works from Broadway songs to ballet scores and has an international reputation for his arrangements of folk songs and African American spirituals. In 2000 he founded the 11-member choral group Counterpoint, specializing in choral chamber music, rarely performed works, and unique arrangements of contemporary composers.
Northfield Mount Hermon School is an independent, coeducational college preparatory school in western Massachusetts .
