New Canaan Resident Wins Concerto Competition
NORTHFIELD, Mass.—Rachel Spector of New Canaan, Conn., a senior at
Northfield Mount Hermon School, won the school’s annual concerto
competition and will sing in a guest solo appearance with the NMH Chamber
Orchestra in May. For her audition, she performed Pergolesi’s “Stizzoso,
mio stizzoso” from La Serva Padrona, Parisotti’s “Se tu m’ami, se
sospiri,” and the famous “O mio babbino caro” from Puccini’s Gianni
Schicchi. She will sing the Pergolesi piece with the chamber orchestra in
May.
Northfield Mount Hermon School is an independent, coeducational college
preparatory school in western Massachusetts. NMH enrolls up to 900
boarding and 200 day students in grades 9 to 12 and postgraduate, and is
known for its diverse and talented students, innovative academic programs,
