NMH Alumna Presents "Afghanistan : The Forgotten War"

NORTHFIELD , Mass.--Laura Brooks, chief of the Joint Staff Afghanistan Intelligence Crisis Cell at the Pentagon, will return to her alma mater to inaugurate the 2003-04 Northfield Mount Hermon State of the World lecture series. Brooks, a member of the class of 1992, will speak on “ Afghanistan : The Forgotten War” at 6:30 pm , Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Rhodes Room, Beveridge Hall, Mount Hermon campus. The event is free and open to the public. 

After graduating from NMH, Brooks attended the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University , graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1996. She has been an Afghanistan analyst for the Department of Defense since Sept. 11, 2001 . 

Brooks is the daughter of NMH faculty members and former chaplains Edwin and Virginia Brooks. She will hold a question-and-answer session following her talk. The State of the World lecture series began after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
