The Joy of Recruiting

For the alums who sign up, it’s a unique opportunity to know NMH as it is today.

Whether you’re an alum, parent, or friend, we’d love to involve you in the admission process. Your firsthand knowledge of the school makes you our best and most eloquent representatives.

What can you do? Ask the admission office for a DVD about the school and also check out the NMH website. You’ll learn up-to-the-minute facts that will help you tout the value of an NMH education. And we’re all about touting: talk to your children, friends, relatives, neighbors, and folks in the grocery store line.

Alumni can literally become ambassadors through the Alumni Admission Ambassador (AAA) Program. As AAAs, they reach out to prospective students and families in their area. Ambassadors help the admission office reach many more students and give those who lack the time or resources to get to campus an equal opportunity to attach a human face to NMH.

“The program’s biggest goal is getting referrals from people who know the institution, what we look for, and what the NMH experience is about,” says Senior Director of Admission Kristen Kaschub ’92, who serves as program coordinator. “Volunteers constantly tell me how fulfilling the work is—and how much it deepens their connection to the school.”

For alums who sign up, it’s a unique opportunity to know NMH as it is today. Alumni ambassadors learn about the current curriculum and schedule, student life, athletic offerings, weekend activities, and more. The admission office is looking for volunteers to fill five kinds of roles:

Representative attends school fairs, visits schools, meets with area education consultants if the NMH admission office is unable to travel to that region

Resource contacts prospective students to answer their questions about NMH

Interviewer assists with interviewing prospective students

Referral identifies prospective students, school, consultants, and affiliations from which NMH can generate an inquiry pool

Host hosts a reception for prospective students and their families, or a send-off party for matriculating students and their families in the area

Of course, you don’t have to be an official ambassador to sing the praises of NMH. And, if you’re an alum, there’s one obvious way to recruit: tell your kids about us and send them our way when the time is right. We guarantee a first-rate education.

For more information about the AAA program, contact Kristen Kaschub ’92 at 413-498-3227 or kkaschub@nmhschool.org.
