As one of the student leaders assigned to each dorm, you make sure lights are out and everyone signs in. But you’re also a mediator between students and a link between students and faculty. You’re there to help and to uphold the standards of the school—to be an example. I got involved because I felt like I could lead, and I felt like I could identify with younger students and the adjustments they go through. I thought I could be fair and understanding and supportive. And I really feel that if there’s something you think you can do, you have a responsibility to do it.
