They are the best-kept secrets of NMH, teachers who, over the course of decades at the school, have changed the lives of those around them.
As the end of the school year draws neigh, so does the retirement of nine special colleagues, coaches, teachers and friends. Although we will miss them, we know that Pilar Abaurrea, Dick Schwingel, Jerry Reneau, Peter Snedecor, Pamela Shoemaker, Don Stevens, David Taylor, Sandy Perkins, and Janet Mayhew are now embarking on new and exciting adventures.
To get a sense of what these nine have meant to us, look no further than how their colleagues describe them: “a cornerstone of the world languages department,” “a builder of bridges,” “the doyen of Tron,” “my teacher, my mentor, and my father at NMH,” “a born teacher,” “the man with the scholar’s mind and lover’s heart, “the pony-tailed, guayabera-wearing teacher,” “a thoughtful, precise, and knowledgeable physician,” and “a master of watercolor painting and printmaking.”
