NMH traveled to Brewster on Saturday to take on the #3 team in New England. Brewster has only lost one game all season. Many teams would have looked at this game and decided that it was not worth the effort; however, the NMH girls refused to see it that way. Despite an overwhelming first period in which Brewster jumped out to a 3-0 lead, the girls battled hard and played 1-1 hockey for the final two periods. Not one player on the NMH squad took the night off in this game, with each member of the team giving 100% from beginning to end. In goal, sophomore Amanda Fontaine was superb, turning away 34 of 38 shots. In the second period, NMH scored its lone goal when freshman Casey Leveillee found the back of the net while NMH was on a 5 on 3 power play. Assists went to Mackey Hemphill and Mackenzie Collins. Special teams were the order of the day, as the local referees saw fit to call 28 penalties on the two teams during the game (not a misprint - 28 penalties), 13 on the home team, 15 on the visitor. Despite this, it was a great game in which the NMH girls represented their school remarkably well. The team finishes the season with a record of 10-12-5, a very good season overall.
