Field Hockey

The NMH Field Hockey Program now boasts our very own state of the art Turf Field and this fall will be our first full season of play on the new Turf. The artificial turf makes the gamefaster and makes best use of the talents of our athletes by allowing the players to enjoy the easy movement and quick transitions that their sticks are able to do on the field turf. While the Varsity will always use the McLamore turf, the JV and Thirds team will enjoy the field as much as possible as well. Each summer many team members warm up for the season at the field hockey camp at Williams College at the end of July.

2010 News

The 2010 Varsity Field Hockey Team consists of just six returners but welcomes eight new players to the team. Captains Maire Bartkus ’11 and Mackey Hemphill’11 will use their experience (both have been on the team since their freshman years), to hold up the Defense (Maire) and the Midfield (Mackey).  Julie Handsaker’11 returns as a starter on Defense and Jamie Cummings ’13 returns to start at midfield Goalie  Amanda Fontaine’12  will be back in the net for the Hoggers.  Returners Margaret Sturtevant’12  and Annie Henderson’12 will be seeing much more playing time this year and they will be helped by newcomers Cassie Cohen’13, Abby Philbrook’13, Olivia Wolpe’11, Anni Li’12, Maddie Bouthiete ’12 and Faith Collona ’12 .  Ainslee Penfield ’12 comes to us as an experienced Varsity player from Greenfield and we look forward to having her offensive strengths on the team for the next two years.
