NMH Experience Model United Nations
Model UN teaches leadership
Model United Nations is a student-taught, faculty-advised minor course that gives students an opportunity to debate real world issues. Regular on-campus classes are structured as simulations of the United Nations General Assembly, Security Council, or other UN committees. Students role play the positions of various nations around the world.
Annually, a traveling team is selected. Students win spots on the traveling team through excellent management of their roles in class. The traveling team participates in international Model UN conferences all over the world. Recently, we have gone to St. Petersburg, Russia; Cairo, Egypt; Istanbul, Turkey; Haarlem, Holland; and Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Our students always perform at the highest level, often bringing home awards for excellence in debate and diplomacy. Our off-campus trips include a few days of travel in the target country prior to the conference.
