Trips to Ghana and India

Students left May 22 for two NMH-affiliated trips — one to Ghana, the other to India.
One group will spend May 22–June 4 studying dance, drumming and culture in Ghana. In this intensive cultural-immersion and service-learning course, NMH students are introduced to a wide range of topics related to African culture, philosophy, and daily life. Through studio classes and interactions with families, artists, chiefs, and governmental art institutions, participants will perform, analyze, construct, critique, and demonstrate their acquired skills in various African artistic mediums.
A separate group leaves for for India, to spend May 22 – June 16 doing service-learning at Joybells Orphanage.  The group also travels to New Delhi, where where participants learn about Indian culture and geography through visits to famous sites in the city. Students become teachers of younger kids at the orphanage.
