AmeriCorps Position
Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound Program
Academic Advising Assistant
Mid September 2009 to early August 2010

College graduates may apply to serve as an AmeriCorps member in the Upward Bound Program for one or two years through the YouthServ AmeriCorps program based in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Excellent training, benefits, stipend, and supports provided. Strengths in several academic areas, experience working with adolescents and the ability to engage and motivate college-bound youth preferred. Assist academic advisers with tutoring, curriculum, events, college trips, residential programming, office projects and other duties. Must be 21 or older, have a valid driver's license, safe driving record and a reliable vehicle. This position provides an Americorps member with an excellent opportunity to develop skills and gain valuable hands on experience in education, advising, and social justice work. Winter and Spring 2009
College work study, volunteer and paid tutors
We are seeking tutors who can assit in our after school tutoring sessions in Springfield, Holyoke, Greenfield, and Turners Falls. Tutoring sessions take place between 2:30 and 5 pm Mondays through Thursdays. Exact times vary with each site. Strength in several academic areas, experience working with adolescents, ability to engage and motivate college bound youth preferred. We are currently working with the Universtiy of Massachusetts, Amherst College, and Mount Holyoke work study programs. We will consider students, graduatates and volunteers from other area colleges as well. To apply please complete and return the following form. Pay rates range from $10-$15 per hour.
