NMH Upward Bound has several exciting opportunites for professionals, college work study students, and volunteers.

Full-time, academic year, beginning fall of 2008
Academic advisor to work with low income and first generation college bound high school students in Western Massachusetts public high schools. Duties include tutoring, advising, coordinating services, leading college visits, assisting with college and financial aid application, teaching our after school curriculum, recruiting new students, and assisting with a variety of program events. BA, teaching or counseling experience with low income youth, strengths in several academic areas, understanding of college and financial aid application process preferred. Applicants must have a reliable vehicle and an excellent driving record. Bilingual Spanish/English helpful. College work study tutors, fall 2008
We are taking applications for college students who could assit in our after school tutoring sessions in Springfield, Holyoke, Greenfield, and Turners Falls. Tutoring sessions take place between 2:30 and 5 pm Mondays through Thursdays. Exact times vary with each site. Strength in several academic areas, experience working with adolescents, ability to engage and motivate college bound youth preferred. We are currently working with the Universtiy of Massachusetts, Amherst College, and Mount Holyoke work study programs. We will consider students from other area colleges as well. Tutor counselor interns, summer 2009
We are no longer accepting applications for Upward Bound Tutor Counselor Interns to work in our Summer Academy 2008. We will begin to review applications for Summer 2009 in the late fall of 2008. Please complete and return this application, which will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Tutor counselor interns assist in the classroom, lead afternoon activities, teach electives, tutor students in study hall, and supervise residential life.

Full-time AmeriCorps position, fall 2009
College graduates may apply to work for one or two years with our program through the AmeriCorps program in Greenfield or Holyoke. Excellent training, benefits, stipends, and support provided. Please contact the two organizations that operate the AmeriCorps programs and indicate that you are interested in working specifically with the NMH Upward Bound Program.
