An international leader among college preparatory boarding schools, Northfield Mount Hermon School is accepting applications for Director of Plant Facilities.  Formed by a merger in 1971 of the Northfield School for girls (founded in 1879 as the Northfield Seminary) and the Mount Hermon School for boys (founded in 1881 as Mount Hermon Boys School), the campus encompasses 1,800 wooded acres along the Connecticut River and includes 720,000 square feet of program and support facilities. 

The director of plant facilities functions as the chief facilities manager for the school with responsibility for the broad policy and management oversight of the school’s plant facilities organization.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the director’s responsibilities include the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling of all plant functions including facilities planning, capital construction/renovation, financial administration, human resource management, and basic operations such as the systematic inspection, planning, and the maintenance and accomplishing of repairs to facilities, equipment and grounds.  The director oversees the operation and maintenance of the school’s utility and infrastructure systems; construction and renovation services; housekeeping, laundry and mail services, as well as campus safety and security.  

The ideal candidate will have the capacity and skills to exemplify and provide dynamic  leadership for the school’s plant facilities department.  Also essential is a facilities leader who possesses the demonstrated capacity to manage all aspects of a complex physical plant operation and engender creative collaboration and a spirit of teamwork within the facilities, with external and internal constituencies, and with professional colleagues.
