Spanish I, II, and Honors
What I like most about teaching at NMH is the diversity of the student body. Our wonderful students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and each one has a different learning style in the classroom. That makes for an interesting classroom experience for everyone. I especially enjoy the interactions I have with the students both in and out of the classroom. That allows the students to see that teachers are real people too, with families and other interests. I think that is what draws me to the Boarding School life.

French I, II, III, IV, and Honors
Though the atmosphere in my classroom is relaxed, the expectations are not. I try to bring out the best in each student, to give that student a sense of self-confidence in his or her ability to communicate effectively in French. My goal is to whet one's appetite for further learning, since there's always something more to learn about a language and the cultures where it is used.
At NMH since 1992; NMH awards for excellence in the teaching and coaching

French I, II, and III
The world languages program is very comprehensive. I enjoy the interaction with students, sharing with them the love I have for the French language and culture, telling them my story, and hearing their stories. As a teacher, I always have to be on task and on top of my subject. As the French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau said, ?He who ceases to learn, ceases to teach.? Students at NMH are taught to think critically and will always challenge us as teachers.
At NMH since 2003; Certificat d'honneur as Teacher of the Laureat (Concours National de Francais) from the American Association of French Teachers

Spanish levels III, IV, V, and Honors; Modern Hispanic Cultures; Uruguay Study Abroad
One of the best things NMH has brought into my life is the possibility of living in such a diverse community. Everyday when I walk into my classroom, the dorm, or the dining hall, I see the world. As a faculty of color, I have found my place in this community, and I have been able to grow as a person and to learn from students from different backgrounds.
At NMH since 2003; advisor to SaLSA (Spanish and Latino/a Students Association); Byung Ku Huh Faculty Fellowship

World History, War, Arabic
I love hearing and nurturing the different perspectives and ideas that are brought to the classroom everyday at NMH. I encourage my students to value their own opinions and those of their classmates, and by doing so they learn in a cooperative and stimulating manner. Teaching sophomores in World History particularly lends itself to exciting discoveries of connections and understandings that may have previously lay hidden to students. I value my role in facilitating that process, and I continuously find NMH students eager to learn more of their world and how they figure within it.
