Rob Buyea was the captain of his high school football team and was a four-year varsity player. In high school he played in the Arcaro Classic all-star game and was an all-league linebacker his senior year.

Buyea enters his fourth year as head coach of the wrestling team. Last winter, his team won its second consecutive Class A and New England Championship, and then became the first New England team to ever finish in the top five at the Prep National Tournament. Two of his wrestlers were won individual national championships.

Buyea holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in elementary education from Syracuse University. As a college wrestler, he racked up more than 70 wins and earned scholar-athlete awards from 1995 to 1998. In high school, Buyea compiled more than 100 wins, won a New York state Section III title, placed fourth in the state championships, and won an Empire State Games championship.
