I broke my ribs playing football and needed something to do while I recuperated, so I auditioned for a student-directed play. The people in the play were also in the NMH Singers, so I auditioned for that. Next thing I knew, I was singing five days a week. There’s a strong dynamic that forms through singing. Your voice is you—it’s your only voice—and when you’re working with other people to make one voice out of all your voices, a natural kinship forms. It’s kind of like NMH. We’re all sharing unique parts of who we are, and we all share the goal of wanting the community to thrive.
