NMH’s student newspaper The Bridge earned a gold medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association of Columbia University. The group evaluated news coverage, writing and editing, graphic presentation, and business operations and The Bridge scored 955 out of a possible 1,000 points. The reviewer noted that The Bridge “has done a commendable job of highlighting those things that make its campus unique.”
Newspaper advisor Jim Block and Bridge editor Fei Chen ’09 sent six issues of the paper to be evaluated at the end of last school year. Chen and the current staff of The Bridge worked on most of those issues. About Chen, Block says, “She’s good enough in the work she does that, like an elegant runner, she makes it all look easy. And she has ink in her blood.” Congratulations, student journalists!
