I wanted a school that would grab hold of my senses and make me want to throw myself into whatever the subject was. That’s exactly what I found at NMH. We study cemeteries and histories of environmental disasters to see if there’s a correlation with life expectancy. We build biospheres out of soda bottles to see how species interact. We read the news (or at least the headlines) on the BBC Arabic website. History teachers co-teach English courses, and religion teachers co-teach science courses, so we see a broader context for what we’re learning. My dream now is to study how access to clean water influences the evolution of human diseases in Africa.
