Northfield Mount Hermon School is where the game of ultimate was invented (see quotation below). Although the game has been played on campus since 1968, it was not until 2006 that there was a girls varsity ultimate team. We had a wining season in our third year. Energy is high and the girls are enthusiastic about the game.

We host a girls tournament every year.In 2009 it will be on Saturday, April 18th. For information, contact coach Craig Hefner at chefner@nmhschool.org.

The history of Ultimate:

Jared Kass, an Amherst College student was one of several student-teachers who taught a precursor to Ultimate to students at the Mount Hermon Summer School during the summer of 1968. Joel Silver, a junior at Columbia High School was one of the students at Mount Hermon. He, in turn brought the game home to New Jersey and, along with friends, helped write the modern rules to Ultimate.
