The Northfield Mount Hermon track and field program is one rich in tradition and success. The program has produced collegiate champions, as well as Olympic Gold medalist Frank Shorter. Each year, NMH track and field sends its graduating students on to competitive programs at all collegiate levels.

NMH's eight-lane all-weather track is one of the finest in New England.  It has two jumping pits, a state-of-the-art pole vault pit, and a separate discus cage. The conference we compete in includes several of the top track Division I programs in New England. Our annual competition includes Andover, Choate, Exeter, Loomis Chaffee, and other prep schools.

NMH has a highly experienced coaching staff.  We have two sprint coaches, two distance coaches, a throwing coach, a high jump coach, long and triple jump coach, a hurdle coach, and a pole vault coach. Each specialty coach works with boys and girls together and gives individual attention to every athlete.

NMH has dominated independent school track in New England for many years. Over the last eight seasons, NMH has finished in the top three in New England seven times, including four championships. The boys track team has won eight New England Championships since 1979, and the girls team has won twelve titles since 1977!  The girls team was the NE Champions in 2002 and the boys team won the NE championship in 2007.

NMH teams are consistently made up of talented student-athletes who value an exceptional private school education and are able to compete at the highest competitive level. As a team, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship, while always striving for personal excellence through outstanding individual effort. As coaches and teachers, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of our students on and off the field.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2007 NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONS, REBECCA YOUNG AND ABLORDE ASHIGBI!!!

Rebecca Young came to the New England championships as the defending champion of last year’s title in the 300M Hurdles.  She was ready to start the season strong, and came with the determination to improve at every possible turn.  Rebecca possesses the ability and will power that makes athletes true competitors and champions. Despite a foot injury which prevented her from competing for the best part of the season, she successfully managed to be ready for the final race and went on to become the 2007 300IH New England Champion! She was a full second in front of the rest of the field with a strong 47.46s finish.  Congratulations, Rebecca!

Ablorde Ablorde is the type of kid that stays later, works harder, and demands more of himself each and everyday at practice and in competition. He started the 2007 season with a bang during a tri-meet against Cushing and Suffield. He launched his best throw of the season which traveled 140' 6". Ablorde won the event and set the tone for the rest of his season. Never losing; never missing a step; Big A constantly produced the big throws that it took to win. His season culminated at Loomis Chaffee, with his undefeated season and a New England Championship on the line. With the stakes set higher than they had been all year, Big A did not disappoint. His furthest throw of the day was 139' 9", his second best throw of the season, and gave him the New England Championship crown. Congratulations, A!
