4) Playoff’s handed out, coaches meet with Jeff after meeting
5) Topics for discussion:
a) Proposal to drop Storm King from the League until they regain varsity
status
- unanimous agreement
b) "Overtimes and / or 45 minute halves"
- daylight savings questions
- last time it was rejected by AD’s and Heads
- everyone else does 45’s (boys, colleges, travel/town teams, etc)
- 10 minutes of OT is actually more than 10 minutes in reality b/c of
switching ends and break times, 45’s truly only add 10 minutes
- OT’s emphasize "finding winners", 45’s just make it more equitable
- 10 more minutes would make a bench more important
- gender equity
- ties can be learning experiences
** Vote on OT’s = virtually unanimously "no"
** Vote on 45’s = 28 yes, 6 no
c) Reporting scores
- some schools were great, most pretty good, a few terrible
- essential to the system functioning
- proposal: every coach puts $15 into "pot" at beginning of the year and
gets $1 back for each score they report in a timely manner at the end of
the year
d) Next fall’s meeting at Westminster, Sunday, September 15th, 2002 @
12:30pm (Thanks Molly!!)
e) End line changes – keep them or switch to no changes on end lines?
** Vote: one dissent, all others voted to keep system same as current
f) Discussion of which games count towards records:
college JV’s? non-league? WWNEPSSA / other NEPSAC / non-NEPSAC?
g) Slate of officers re-appointed (no vote, just a unanimous verbal
"consent" from group)
h) Discussion about tournament decisions and equity of system – problems
with selection process were raised by some – some discussion about
strength of schedule and weight of other factors in decision
