NMH Girls Soccer

The Northfield Mount Hermon girls’ varsity soccer team has historically been one of the most competitive soccer sides in New England. We annually compete against the toughest possible opponents in NEPSAC soccer, class A, B, C, or D throughout our 17-game schedule. NMH alumnae have gone on to find success in soccer at a variety of Division 1, 2, and 3 colleges across the country.

Facilities
The varsity team found a new home in 2007 when they moved to the recently constructed and newly dedicated southern pitch of the Peller Family Fields. This complex is regularly acknowledged as being one of the absolutely finest in New England. In addition to this natural surface, the two new turf fields scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2008 will supplement the team’s play in inclement weather.

The NMH Soccer Camp
Beginning this season, the NMH boys’ and girls’ soccer programs are hosting their own preseason team camp. The camp is designed to aid potential varsity players in preparing for the coming season; as such, only 30 girls are invited to the four-day camp. This year, the camp runs from noon on Friday, August 22 through noon on Monday, August 25.

The NMH Play Day
The girls begin their season each year by hosting the incredibly successful 10-team NMH Play Day. Each team plays four 30-minute, running time scrimmages with officials and has one game off. Recent attendees have included Deerfield Academy, Williston-Northampton School, Wilbraham & Monson Academy, Vermont Academy, Kingswood-Oxford School, Pioneer Valley Regional School, Hun School, Westminster School, St. Luke’s School, and King Low-Heywood Thomas School.

2008 Season Preview
The 2008 squad promises to build on the steady success of the team over the past three seasons. Co-captains senior Heather Livingston (Farmington, CT) and junior Joy Fernandes (Marlborough, MA), who was a league all-star in 2007, will lead a team that boasts 11 returners from last season, including 8 starters. This group will be augmented by a strong group of newcomers and younger players moving up from JV. As always, NMH will begin its season on Saturday, September 6 with its annual Play Day before kicking off its season the following Wednesday with an away match at Cushing.
