Throughout NMH’s storied history, the varsity program has boasted many league titles and All-Americans. While a member of the Northern league, NMH won the league championship six times in the 90s before joining the Western League in 1999. After graduating from NMH, lacrosse players have gone on to successful college careers at numerous Division I, II, and III programs throughout the country. Recent graduates have attended a variety of colleges including Dartmouth, Hobart, Rutgers, Bryant, Bowdoin, Middlebury, and Hampden-Sydney.

As a member of the Western New England Secondary School Lacrosse Association (WNESSLA), Northfield Mount Hermon participates in arguably one of the most competitive lacrosse leagues in the nation. In 2006, five teams from the WNEPSLA were recognized on the STX/Inside Lacrosse national rankings, and in 2007 four teams earned national recognition. With league rivals including the likes of Deerfield Academy, Hotchkiss School, Salisbury School, Loomis Chaffee, and Avon Old Farms, our games are frequented by college coaches. NMH also competes against some of the best schools from the Eastern and Northern leagues including Exeter, Andover, and Holderness.

The varsity team begins its season with an annual trip over spring break to Cocoa Beach, Florida to participate in the Royal Palms Lacrosse Tournament. Upon returning north after spring break, the team will kick-off its ambitious schedule, which is annually considered to be one of the most challenging in the nation.

The 2007 team boasted an impressive 11-8 record, with key wins over Choate, Taft, Exeter, and Andover, good enough for the team’s most wins since 1995. The team also won the Royal Palms Tournament over spring break, saw three players earn a spot on the All-League team, and placed three seniors in the East-West all-star game. With an extremely strong and talented nucleus of returning players returning, the team will welcome a terrific host of new players in 2008. As always, the coaching staff will look to supplement the roster with younger players brought up through the ranks.

The NMH lacrosse program emphasizes the importance of team play and individual improvement in all aspects of the game. The coaching staff looks to foster a brand of play that encourages teamwork and good sportsmanship while also placing an emphasis on hard work, dedication, and fun. Players will take memories, experiences, and life lessons with them long after they leave NMH. With this focus, NMH will once again chase the WNESSLA title in 2008.
