#11 Gary Correia, team captain

This is Gary's third year with the Hoggers, and his second as captain. Last year he teamed with Dan McGeary (University of New Hampshire) to form one of the best shooting backcourts in the country. Both players shot more than 47 percent from three-point range last year. As a junior, Gary averaged 12 points, five assists and three rebounds. As a sophomore, Gary played a major role for NMH during its 20-5 regular season campaign, averaging 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds a game. This summer Gary split time between Jason Elliot's Rhode Island Hawks and Buck Jenkins' Inner Strength (Atlanta, GA) AAU programs. During his senior year, Gary is studying Precalculus, two terms of Literature and Composition, Psychology, Satire and Film, and Asia Rising. During his first two years at NMH, Gary was the starting wide receiver for the football team and will be a three-time member of our track team in the spring. Gary was named Athlete of the Year for the Class of 2007 for his sophomore and junior years. Gary has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Atlantic-10 at the University of Massachusetts.

#13 Brian “Bud” Gaffney

Bud returns for his second year with the Hoggers. Last year, Bud was the first guard off the bench and made great contributions in our biggest games. He averaged three points, two assists and two rebounds during his junior year. Bud arrived at NMH from Somerset High School in Somerset, MA, where he started at the point for 53 wins (the most in school history), two Conference Championships reaching the Fleet Center in ’03 with his brother, University of Massachusetts forward and former Hogger, Tony Gaffney '04. Bud averaged more than 16 points and eight assists in ’04-’05 and was named to the Fall River Herald Starting Five. Last summer, Bud spent his fourth season starting as the hard-nosed point guard for Jason Elliot’s Rhode Island Hawks, along with NMH teammates Gary Correia, Matt Glass, Simon McCormack, and Clive Weeden. In his senior year, Bud is studying Astronomy, War, Human Physiology, Statistics, Philosophy, and Literature and Composition. Bud will continue his basketball career at Wheaton College.

#13 Matt Glass

Matt comes to NMH from Mount Mansfield HS in Vermont. He is one of two players on the NMH roster who earned state Player of the Year honors. Matt was twice named Vermont's Mr. Basketball. He was also named the Coaches Association Player of the Year for his senior year. He averaged 22 points, ten rebounds and six assists during his senior year campaign and scored 1,013 points for his career. Matt was named first-team all-state and helped his club win the state championship during his sophomore and junior years. His team lost in the state semifinals during his senior year. During his postgraduate year, Matt is studying postgraduate English, Precalculus, Human Physiology, Asia Rising, Satire and Film, and Eastern Religions. He also is serving as a tour guide for the NMH Admission Office. Matt came to NMH with no Division I scholarship offers, however his postgraduate year has brought him scholarship offers from the University of Richmond, Northwestern University, and interest from the Ivy League. Matt has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Atlantic-10 at the University of Massachusetts.

#10 Brian Jones

Brian comes to NMH from the Rectory School in Connecticut. He graduated from Rectory as their most accomplished athlete in the school's history. At Rectory, Brian was named MVP of the football, basketball and track teams. He set the cross-country running course record and broke the single game scoring mark with 47 points in one game. Brian is a terrific athlete who loves to compete. The Hoggers are expecting an exciting year from Brian. This fall, Brian returned kicks and started in the secondary lineup for our football team. Brian plays his AAU ball with Jason Elliot's Rhode Island Hawks team. During his sophomore year, Brian is studying World Literature, World History, Physics, World Religions, Spanish I, and Algebra II.

#34 Simon McCormack

Height: 6'5''
Weight: 185 pounds

Simon returns for his second year with the Hoggers. Simon is known as a gym-rat. His enthusiasm for athletics doesn't end there: On the court he can always be counted on to bring his best effort. NMH is expecting big things from Simon during his junior year. Last year, Simon averaged 3.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. Simon came to NMH from Portsmouth High School, where he had a great season in '04-'05. He averaged 15 points and seven rebounds on his way to earning team MVP honors. He was also honored by being named to the 2005 Foster's Daily Democrat Dream Team. At Portsmouth High School, Simon placed third in the state in the high jump for the freshman and sophomore championships. This summer, Simon was named to the Eastern Invitational All-Star game and won the hardest-working camper award. He also split time between Steve Cronin's NH Wildcat team, where he helped them to a NH AAU State Championship, and Jason Elliot's Rhode Island Hawks squad. During his junior year, Simon is studying Precalculus, Ethics, US History, American Literature, Environmental Studies, and French IV. Simon is a tour guide for the NMH Admission Office. He has heard interest from all of the Ivies, Patriots, Atlantic-10 and America East.

#1 Ty Nash

Hometown: Rosedale, NY
College: University of Notre Dame

Ty comes to NMH from Lawrence Woodmere Academy and is the second Hogger to be named the state Player of the Year. He was named the Class A New York State Player of the Year and was named first-team All-Long Island and represented New York City in the Jordan Classic at Madison Square Garden. He was also named to the MSG Tri-State first team. Additionally, Ty was named to the NYC-Long Island first-team All-Academic squad. At Lawrence Woodmere, he was named MVP and his #31 jersey has been retired and hangs from the rafters. During his senior year, he averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. During his postgraduate year, Ty is taking postgraduate English, Calculus, Asia Rising, Human Physiology, Harlem Renaissance, and Psychology. Ty entertained scholarship offers from the University of Kentucky, St. John's University and others, however, he has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Big East Conference at the University of Notre Dame.

#23 RJ Rutledge

RJ comes to NMH from Lawrence Woodmere Academy where he teamed with Ty Nash to lead their team to the state championship game where they lost a heartbreaker. RJ scored 33 points in the championship game. RJ is a spectacular shooter and is a tremendous defensive player. He will be called on to do both in addition to contributing his other skills to the Hoggers this season. As a senior, RJ averaged 20 points, six rebounds and five assists. He was named first-team All-IPPSAO and was honored with third-team All-Long Island. During his postgraduate year, RJ is studying postgraduate English, Philosophy, Environmental Studies, and Asia Rising. RJ has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Northeast Conference at Monmouth University in New Jersey.

#15 Roahn Sheppard

College: Bloomfield College

Roahn returns for his third year with the Hoggers. As a junior, he averaged five points and 4.5 rebounds a game. Roahn's smooth style will be a great match for this year's club. As a sophomore, he averaged 1.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. Roahn has made the most improvement of any of the returning players and has developed into a force to be reckoned with in our league. He surprised a lot of people in 2005-2006. Roahn came to NMH from Cardigan Mountain in New Hampshire where he led his team to a 25-4 record. There he averaged 25 points, ten rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks per game. During his senior year, Roahn is taking Astronomy, two terms of Literature and Composition, French, and Violence and Nonviolence. This summer, Roahn made a trip to Italy for a European basketball tournament with the Boys Club of New York. Roahn accepted a scholarship and signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Bloomfield College in New Jersey.

#5 Derrick Thomas

Derrick returns for his second year with the Hoggers where he has shown he is a super athlete with the potential to be one of NMH's greats. As a freshman, Derrick averaged 3.2 points, two rebounds and one assist per contest. Derrick came to NMH from Harbor Science and Arts Charter School in NYC where he led the team to two consecutive league championships. He was named the MVP of both championship games. Derrick was honored with the student-athlete of the year at Harbor and earned the Sportsmanship award for the High School Association of Manhattan's Middle District. In the summer and spring Derrick plays his AAU ball with the New Heights Scholar-Athlete Program. This summer, Derrick averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and three steals per contest. During his sophomore year, Derrick is studying World History, World Religions, Spanish II, Sophomore English, Biology, and Algebra II. Derrick is a tour guide for the NMH Admission Office. #12 Andrew Van Nest

Andrew comes to NMH from Weston High School in Massachusetts. Last year, Andrew averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks per game and was named to the Dual County League All-League team for two consecutive years. NMH is expecting big things from Andrew this year. He is a skilled player who will bring back memories of Joe Wolfinger '05 for the Hogger faithful. Andrew can shoot the three and is a great passer. Andrew plays his AAU ball with Mo Vasquez's Metro Boston club. During his junior year, Andrew is taking American Literature, Precalculus, Asia Rising, Human Physiology, Eastern Religions, Philosophy, and Spanish III. Andrew has interest and scholarship offers from schools in the Big East, Big-10, Big-12, Atlantic-10, the Ivy League, and others.

#42 Clive Weeden

Weight: 220 pounds

Position: forward
Hometown: Stowe, MA
College: Dartmouth College

Clive returns for his third year with the Hoggers, where he is a defensive force and a tremendous athlete. NMH counts on Clive's intensity every game. As a junior, Clive started every game and averaged 3.1 points, six rebounds and shot 60-percent from the floor. As a sophomore, Clive averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest. As a sophomore, Clive was the starting wide receiver in football and was a distinguished high jumper and long jumper for the NMH track team. Clive has made a huge improvement with his basketball game and will have a major role on our squad this year. During his senior year, Clive is studying French IV, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics, Literature and Composition, Economics, and Eastern Religions. Clive is a student leader in Overton dorm. He spent his summer playing his AAU ball with the Rhode Island Hawks. He will play his college for the Big Green in the Ivy League: Clive has been accepted to Dartmouth College.

#22 Jerrell Williams

Jerrell returns for his second year with the Hoggers. Last year, Jerrell was one of the most athletic players in the prep school ranks. As a junior, Jerrell averaged 13 points, five rebounds and two assists. Jerrell is a high-energy and acrobatic athlete who loves to compete. This summer, Jerrell played his AAU ball with Nick Blatchford's New Heights Scholar-Athlete Program out of NYC. Jerrell came to NMH from Paterson Catholic where he and his brother teamed up to average more than 40 points per contest. During his senior year, Jerrell is taking Biblical Interpretation, Economics, Literature and Composition, and Human Physiology. Jerrell has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Atlantic-10 at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

Terrell returns for his second year with the Hoggers. Last year, Terrell was a defensive force on the perimeter while still getting it done offensively. As a junior, Terrell averaged 11 points, six rebounds and two assists. This summer, Terrell played his AAU ball with Nick Blatchford's New Heights Scholar-Athlete Program out of NYC. Terrell came to NMH from Paterson Catholic where he and his brother teamed up to average more than 40 points per contest. During His senior year, Terrell is studying Ethics, War, Literature and Composition, Geology, and Human Physiology. Terrell has accepted a scholarship, and signed his National Letter of Intent, to play college basketball in the Atlantic-10 at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.
