NMH Baseball : Boys Baseball
NMH Varsity Baseball
As a member of the Central New England Prep School Baseball League (CNEPSBL), Northfield Mount Hermon plays one of the most competitive prep school baseball schedules every year. League opponents include Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Cushing, Worcester, and Tabor. Along with the 12 league games, a strong non-conference schedule, including teams such as Springfield College JV, Franklin Pierce College JV and Choate Rosemary Hall, round out what is usually an 18- to 24-game schedule.
In 2006, the team embarked on what is to become an annual spring training trip south. This year, the team spent five days at the Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida (see the link to the left). The trip was designed to allow the boys to both prepare for the season and enjoy their spring break. This year, the boys had all morning practices which allowed them to visit the Disney theme parks in the afternoons while still getting all the necessary work in to get ready for the season.
The Hoggers pride themselves in fundamental play. The philosophy of the team is “first we will be best, and then we will be first.” When we are fundamentally the best team in the league, our win-loss record will reflect that in a positive manner. We believe that through fundamental play and a focused attention to detail during practice, NMH can become a yearly contender fro the CNEPSBL title.
NMH Baseball does not believe in making players conform to a specific system of baseball techniques; instead, the coaches work with each individual athlete to maximize their baseball potential within the context of a team environment. With experienced coaches at both the varsity and junior varsity levels, NMH is truly developing baseball program. Whether an athlete is an incoming freshman looking to work his way up to the varsity, a post-graduate looking to improve his college prospects for the next year, or somewhere in between, NMH has the facilities and coaching staff to help that player reach his goals.
NMH baseball looks to bring in the finest student-athletes in the country. If you are interested in being a part of this dynamic program, please click on this link to complete our online athletics questionnaire.
