Welcome to the NMH Astronomy Home Page.

The teaching of astronomy was started at NMH in 1987 and has grown ever since. There is a lot of variety in the offerings and we have even discovered our own trans-Neptunian object (TNO) deignated 1998 FS144, also called a Kuiper Belt Object (KBO). We participate in supernova searches and asteroid searches as data comes available. We will complete the NMH Observatory "Proof of Concept" construction phase during the 2006 fall term.

It is the goal of our program to reach out to students and members of the NMH community with a variety of backgrounds and interests and to provide them with an opportunity to become better acquainted with our vast Universe and to have a good time while doing so.

Below is our first attempt at imaging with our new system. It is M42, a giant molecular cloud in the constellation Orion.
