Dear Class of 1988,

I am writing to invite each of you to save the date of our 20th  Northfield Mount Hermon reunion, June 5-8, 2008. I can hardly believe it myself!  The 20 year gathering is a special one, as many of us have finally gotten a grasp of our adult lives, perhaps obtained additional degrees, gotten married or remarried, and in some cases expanded our families. Many of us have traveled to fantastic locales. And many of us are in the midst of interesting and fulfilling careers.  Regardless of where you are in life, I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you back to the campus this spring to share your stories,  to catch up with old friends and to reconnect with NMH.

Since our last reunion, many changes have occurred at NMH. As any 4 year senior would attest, ours was the first class allowed to have freshman living on both campuses. Some of us spent our entire time living on one campus, some of us mixed it up a bit by living on both campuses, and certainly all of us remember taking the bus back and forth between campuses. Who can forget the phrase, “If you can’t find ‘em, grind ‘em” in reference to the questionable gears on the bus; or meeting at the flagpole near Weston Hall to get on a charter bus for Thanksgiving break; or dances at Tracy? With that said, this letter surely finds us all at a crossroads of memories and loyalties.

I really hope you decide to come back. It will be a great opportunity for us to see the many changes on the former Mount Hermon campus (now NMH) and to hear about the plans already underway that will further strengthen our school for years to come.

In the coming months, the Class of ’88 Reunion Committee will be planning events, and I welcome your ideas. Throughout Reunion Weekend, there will be various seminars, sports and recreation, and lots of time to hang out with old friends. If you would like to present a slideshow, artwork, hold a reading/book signing, open mic, or do anything that will be of interest to your classmates and other returning alumni, please let me know.

If you’ve returned for past reunions, you know how much fun the entire weekend can be. If you haven’t been back yet, I hope to see you this June.

Here are ways to prepare for Reunion:

1. Mark the date on your calendar: June 5-8, 2008.
2. Visit the NMH website and update your e-mail address.
3. Contact at least one other classmate and plan on attending together.
4. E-mail me with an idea for a reunion activity
5. Practice signing Jerusalemin the shower.
6. Attend a Vespers or Sacred Concert.
7. Make room in your diet for Bishops Bread.
8. Find your old yearbooks and facebooks and relearn everyone’s name.
9. Just show up!
