Class of '78

November 2007

Hello, Fellow 78ers,

Who can forget the blizzard of 1978? Or the unique entry from North Crossley in the 1977 winter festival snow-sculpture contest? Or the unbeaten juggernaut we became in those multiple rope pull contests during fall 1977? Some of us even remember Recitation Hall burning!

For many of us, these are events we’ll never forget, even though we’ve all gone on to do other memorable things over the past 30 (!) years. We hope you’ll consider spending a great weekend in June remembering the events of our NMH days, as well as filling your classmates in on some of the fun you’ve had since you left the Hog in June 1978. Please think about making plans now for attending our 30th reunion on June 5–8, 2008. Come and catch up with old friends, relive some good times, and find out what other folks have been doing since 1978.

Lisa Glovsky-Zeien, Peter Weis, and I attended the class of 1977’s 30th-year reunion this past June. It was a great time for everyone who returned: relaxing, fun, and full of renewed connections. This, after all, is the point of reunions—to reconnect and reunite with a group of people in a place that had such a powerful impact at an important time in our lives.

There will be dinners, receptions, and activities, all designed to be fun and give us lots of opportunities to talk and be with each other. We can do as much or as little as we like, and if you find yourself smiling while in conversation with your roommate from sophomore year in Marquand, your teammate from C-squad soccer, your fellow castmate from a Silverthorne production, or someone you fell out of the ITOD tree with, then we’ll know we planned things the way they should be.

The class of 1978 has always been a strong group with good showings at reunion. We hope that this will continue and you will join us in June, whether for your first trip back to a reunion or your sixth. These actually get more fun with each passing block of time, so don’t let another five years go by without reconnecting with the other inmates in the asylum known as Northfield Mount Hermon in the late 1970s.

Sincerely,

Mark Maloney ’78
Reunion Chair
