Leadership Weekend at NMH:  The Great Class of 1959 showed up!!

Twenty-two alumni and guests of the Great Class of 1959 attended the NMH Leadership Weekend on September 7-9.  We worked hard, and had a great time as well; it was wonderful to meet old and new friends, kick back, engage in sometimes serious sometimes  boisterous conversations, revisit our past and view the future.  It bodes well for the upcoming 50th Reunion.  The purpose of the weekend was to meet as a group and with NMH staff, to coordinate plans for our 50th Reunion in June 2009 (dates are still tentative, but will be decided soon).  We had meetings that focused on the Yearbook (are you digging out those old memories and pictures yet?), the Class Gift, and arrangements for the weekend itself.  We also already have a logo for a T-shirt!  The 50th Reunion is a very special event at NMH, and the Class of 1959 will have a great one!  You will be receiving mailings, emails (please send your email if you haven’t done that already) and phone calls from classmates encouraging you to attend the Reunion and donate to the Class Gift and to the Annual Fund (the school is striving for a “need blind” admissions policy among other things).  Several people donned hard hats and took a tour of the Rhodes Center for Fine Arts that is going up as we speak; it is scheduled to open to students in September 2008, and will be officially dedicated shortly before our 50th Reunion.  We also ate in the student dining hall and learned about life at NMH from a panel of students.  The weekend was not all work, however – we are very fortunate to have our “Local Liaisons”, Randy and Lynn Foster, who give of their house and deck generously, and they provided Saturday breakfast as well as a place to hang out at the end of each day with a glass of wine or two.  Some of the best and certainly most creative planning took place at these sessions!  A good time was had by all, and we look forward to more people joining us next September.  And we hope everyone is considering joining us for the 50th Reunion!
