Class of '1958
October 2007Dear Members of the NMH Class of ’58,
Your reunion committee has been working diligently for three years now, preparing what promises to be a most exciting and rewarding agenda for our 50th Reunion, June 5-8, 2008. During our most recent reunion planning meeting at NMH on September 15, we began to finalize our class-specific activities for the weekend, which will include boat trips on the Connecticut River, a lobster bake, various receptions, class dinners, hymn sings and more. Of particular note will be a service of remembrance for our deceased classmates at Round Top on the Northfield campus on Saturday afternoon.
Also on the September 15 we were able to take a hard-hat tour of the new Rhodes Center for the Arts, a $29 million, 63,000 square foot facility located where Recitation and Silliman halls once stood. This most impressive facility, which will be the home for the entire aqrts program at NMH, is due for completion in the fall of 2008 and to date the project is on time and on budget. Its tower will be the new home for the Northfield Carillon. Moving the Carillon will be the special challenge gift of our class to NMH in honor of our 50th Reunion. You will hear more about this later and we hope you will all want to contribute.
For those who have not returned to campus since graduation you will notice many, many changes but also many things that have remained the same. The roots of commitment to D. L. Moody’s community and the head, heart and hand are evident everywhere.
The key to success for Reunion weekend is YOU and your participation. Many of you attended the 25th and others have returned for subsequent reunion weekends. Now is the time to return in force. While we have instituted an individual calling program and class communication mailings, we encourage you to network, speak with former classmates, and plan to attend together. Plan to come back to renew acquaintances and rekindle fond memories.
We guarantee that you will be glad you came back!
Tom and I and your 50th Reunion Planning Committee are looking forward to seeing you ALL in June.
