Dear Classmates of 1957—both Northfield and Mount Hermon!

September 2006

Dear Classmates of 1957—both Northfield and Mount Hermon!

Please note on your calendar the dates of Thursday, June 7 through Sunday, June 10, 2007 for our 50th Reunion. The Reunion Planning Committee is aiming for a record turnout, and we encourage YOU to be with us!

Our class created a new tradition 25 years ago when seven of us returned to the MH campus to run in the Pie Race. That started what is now the NMH Alumni Challenge Cup, awarded to the first class 25 years or more beyond graduation that gets three classmates across the finish line of the 4.5-mile cross country race! Homemade apple pies are now awarded to individuals who finish in 38 (men) and 45 (women) minutes! Although always invited, our Northfield classmates have not shared in this tradition. Now that we are in our 50th reunion, and none of us are able to earn pies by the original 33/40 minutes "student standard" nor the present "alumni standard", we are about to create a new tradition, in which we hope both women and men from our class of 1957 will participate. On Monday, October 9, 2006 the Bemis-Forsland Pie Race will include an "Alumni Pie Walk" for members of classes in their 50th reunion years or beyond, and everyone who finishes the 4.5-mile walk will get a prize, just for finishing! The prize will be a "surprise"—maybe an apple pie, maybe a tart or a t-shirt, that decision to be made at the school!

The race/walk begins at 4:15 p.m. with registration beginning at 3 p.m. at the Forsland Gym on the NMH campus. As your Team Captains, we (Ginger and Dave) are committed to run or walk/run, and we are inviting you to join us in this noble effort. There will be dinner and award ceremony at Alumni Hall (formerly West Hall) following the event, and we hope you will stay for that as well. Even if you cannot run or walk, you are welcome, and we may well appreciate your support and encouragement as we stagger to the finish.

Also, this new tradition will be accompanied by another one of our 50th Reunion events, arranged by Ginger Roe Lang '57, and timed to coincide with the Pie Race. The Sudbury River Boat Trip and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tour on Sunday, October 8, starting at Noon are described on the enclosed flyer. Both of us (Ginger and Dave) and our spouses will be on board, and we invite you to register ASAP, because we are limited by the capacity of the boat to 20

participants.  Please let us know which events you will be sharing with us, preferably both! To do this you can either e-mail events@nmhschool.org or call Angelina Dubovik (413) 498-3330 at the school.  If you have questions, you may contact us at our e-mail addresses!

Cordially,

Ginger Roe Lang '57             and      David C. Williams '57
