Northfield Mount Hermon Class of `61 Scholarship Fund Letter

Dear 1961 Classmate;

This is an exciting time for our class – our 50th Reunion at Northfield Mount Hermon is approaching! Plans are underway for a wonderful weekend in June 2011 and, although it may seem far away, your 50th Reunion Committee is already at work. We would like you to consider the following: Attend our 50th reunion, join the reunion committee with your ideas, your talent and your enthusiasm (and you can do that by emailing Marggie Slichter ’84 at mslichter@nmhschool.org) and contribute to the NMH Annual Fund yearly leading to 2011, as well as to the 50th Class Reunion Gift .

If each of us makes the extra effort, we will be well on our way to reaching our objectives of

1. increasing our class participation to 70%
2. achieving a level of contribution that accurately represents our collective appreciation of what the NMH experience has meant to us and
3. reaching a level of total contribution that sets a high standard for subsequent 50th Reunion classes.

As to the one-time 50th Reunion Gift, we would like to establish a Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund which we would present to the school administration at our reunion in 2011. As you know, we have already started this fund when we decided, at our 40th reunion, to establish an account with Fidelity Investments for that purpose. Many of you have generously contributed to it, a few of you annually. We would now like to step up this effort, as we move the fund to NMH this month. We are lucky enough to have a running start with almost $50,000 already in hand.

As you consider your response regarding both the Annual Fund and the Scholarship Fund, we urge you to think about not only cash contributions but also about appreciated stocks, bonds nearing maturity, fungible real property, and (deferred) estate gifts as well. Please note also that Class Reunion gifts are payable over a five-year period.
