Mount Hermon Class of `60 Fall Update Letter
September 29, 2006Dear Classsmate,
Another academic year has begun at NMH, and by all reports, it’s off to a great start. This is the second year of being a smaller school all on one campus. We learned a lot from last year, so we would expect this year to be even better. I am pleased and proud to be back for my second go-round as an employee.
September 8-10 was Leadership Weekend on campus with about 120 alumni volunteers of all kinds here for training and information sessions. Most of the alums stayed on for the Opening Convocation on Sunday morning, followed by the ground breaking ceremony officially kicking off the construction of the Rhodes Center for the Arts scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. The alums thoroughly enjoyed being on campus while school was in session, observing the energy and enthusiasm of the students and faculty (The administrators are always energetic and enthusiastic.)
So, with a new school year comes a new Annual Fund. I will continue as the MH ’60 Gift Chair and have recruited several classmates to help contact every classmate seeking his annual support. As we approach our 50th Reunion milestone, my goal is to increase our collective gift to the Annual Fund each year by significant increments, and to increase our already strong participation.
For the fiscal year that ended last June ’06, we fell slightly short of our dollar goal of $60,000 with a total gift of $58,395. However, we exceeded our participation goal of 65% with just under 70% participating. I happily add that MH ’60 had more donors than any other class, even more than all the much larger classes since the merger in 1971. Take pride in that, classmates!
Expect a phone call from a member of our calling committee, and please respond generously. The school both needs and deserves our support. Its mission is special, even unique. It always has been. More than ever before, NMH needs its alumni to step up and truly help make a difference. And remember, every gift matters. Just make it matter even more than before!
Very sincerely yours,

Marv Kelley
