Class of '48

November 2007

October 2007

Dear Friend from the Class of '48:

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to meet someone we'd known and liked over sixty years ago and, meeting them again, take up exactly where we'd left off? Reunions at NMH prove over and over again that it can happen. Find out for yourselves and be on campus when the class of Northfield and Mount Hermon '48 gather for their sixtieth reunion June 5–8, 2008.

The class of 1948 reunion committee has been at work planning four fun-filled days, ones that will be long remembered. Some of the group were on campus in September to hear about the great things the school has in store for us. We'll start with our traditional Thursday evening wine and cheese party at the home of Nan Dearborn Knipe in Bernardston, just a few minutes from the campus. Dinner that night looking down the valley from Bella Notte restaurant is always an occasion for great camaraderie. Friday brings seminars and classes, exhibits, a reception at Ford Cottage and a hymn sing plus lots of time for wandering, reminiscing, and just plain enjoying. Saturday we'll march in the alumni parade, hear about what's going on at NMH, have a class meeting, remember classmates at our memorial tree, and because we are just a wee bit senior, be guests of the school for a wonderful reception and '48 class banquet. Sunday we'll go to chapel and continue to take in the beauty of the campus and marvel once more that yes, we are able to pick up and continue right where we left off all those years ago.

While all of you are marking your calendars for June 5–8, 2008, be thinking also how to best observe this important anniversary. The NMH Annual Fund keeps the school humming along and our Class of '48 Memorial Scholarship Fund gives others the same wonderful opportunities we had back in the forties. A gift to both would certainly say "thank you" for what we received in these beautiful hills.

We will be in touch with more information, but start now to make travel plans, find that old yearbook, pictures, an athletic letter or old dummy smock. Bring them along so that, among friends, we can go back in time to the days of our teens when, with the help of this wonderful school, we laid the foundations for our lives.

We'll be there. Join us!
