Admission Welcome!
Greetings from the Dean of Admission
Thank you for your interest in NMH! There is much information on our web site about the application process, so my words of welcome will focus briefly on the kind of school NMH is and the kind of students who are admitted and thrive here.
NMH is an ideal place for young people who seek a school that is broad in scope and opportunity, academically rigorous and relevant, socially conscious and environmentally aware, pioneering in spirit and compassionate at heart. NMH is an ideal place for students who may not know exactly what life has in store for them but who expect that, no matter what path they take, they are going to do something meaningful and worthwhile.
We admit students who are ready to look thoughtfully at themselves and others, with genuine interest in the cultures of the world and the implications of a shrinking globe. We admit students who are ready to compete with the best – in academics, in athletics, and in the arts – and who are eager to make friends with young people from all over the country and all over the world. We admit students who are excited to be pioneers in learning and willing to take academic risks; who like to wonder and ask questions and who will be comfortable making mistakes while pursuing a passion or honing a talent.
NMH students lean into challenges, encouraged and supported in their efforts by a community of caring, experienced adults who see their primary goal as being to guide their students in the complex process of becoming independent, self-sufficient young adults ready to succeed in and beyond college. The outstanding faculty members at NMH, who are deeply committed and ubiquitously involved, bring to their work in the classroom, the playing field, the stage and the art studio an average of 20 years of experience. The impact they have on their students lasts, literally, a lifetime.
I hope you will explore NMH by digging more deeply into this web site and then by visiting our campus. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Admission, or me personally, if you have questions. We would be very pleased to speak with you about the advantages of NMH’s education for the head, the heart, and the hand.
