Mission
Religious studies courses challenge students to examine the religious dimension of human life by addressing fundamental questions of meaning and purpose, identity and community, ethics and destiny. Introductory studies (Humanities I and II) recognize that such questions are often best pursued from a cross-disciplinary perspective and encourage growth through encounter and dialogue.
Diploma Requirements
Students must complete requirements as follows:
- four-year students must earn two credits; two full-credit courses are included in the required Humanities I and II
programs. Additional religious studies electives may be taken during the junior and/or senior years.- three-year students must earn one and one-half credits; entering sophomores take one full-credit religious studies course as part of the required Humanities II program. The remaining half-credit course must be taken as an elective during
the junior or senior year.- two-year students must earn one credit; students entering as juniors fulfill the prescribed credit requirement with elective courses.
- one-year students must earn one-half credit; entering seniors and postgraduates fulfill the prescribed credit requirement with elective courses.
