Summer Positions 

• DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps service positions with Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound Summer Academy: Program dates: Off-campus pre-service from mid-May through June 17. Members must complete 40 hours of pre-service preparation (reading, research, reflection at your own pace; Internet use required). On campus June 17 - Aug. 4. 

This intensive residential academic program in Gill, Massachusetts, helps low-income, first-generation, college-bound students strengthen academic and social skills to prepare for college. Live in dorms with students for six weeks while assisting with trips and events, helping students with academics, leading workshops and electives, and more! Demanding but very rewarding positions for college students or recent graduates who are interested in education and educational access. Service members receive a $2,000 stipend, room and board for seven weeks, and a $1,500 AmeriCorps education award. Read more about the program and apply.

• Summer Faculty: The Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound program is seeking experienced algebra 2, geometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, biology, chemistry, and physics teachers. The goal of our classes is to prepare first-generation, low-income, college-bound students for rigorous high school and college classes. Classes meet June 27-Aug. 3, 2017 with a required orientation most likely on June 20 and 21. Classes meet for one hour per day, Mondays through Thursdays between 8:30 am and 12:45 pm, with some exceptions. Teachers will also assist in one evening study hall and attend ​a daytime faculty meeting each week. The salary range is $2,000- $4,500 depending on experience and the number of sections. We invite applications from teachers who have experience in and a commitment to teaching from a social justice framework. Some training and guidance will be provided.
