March E-news bulletin
NORTHFIELD STEWARDSHIP
The board of trustees will convene a meeting at the end
of March to review marketing materials for the reuse of the
Northfield campus.
As reported in earlier communications, President Richard
Mueller will retire in June, and Head of School Tom
Sturtevant will assume leadership of the Northfield campus
stewardship initiative, with Carol Ramsey ’70 continuing as
the trustee chair of the Northfield stewardship committee of
the board and Carol Lebo coordinating the efforts on campus.
FACILITIES PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Childs Bertman Tseckares, Inc. (CBT), the Boston
architectural firm planning the school’s new arts center,
has been contracted to design the new admission building.
Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place this summer. Once
finalized, renderings of the new building will be posted on
the school's website.
EDUCATIONAL AND RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
On March 10, the admission office sent out 394 offers of
admission to students who were selected from a very strong
pool of candidates. The average financial aid grant offer
represents a $1,300 increase over last year. For the first
time, international families were able to receive online
notification of the admission decision. Parents received a
password and could access the decision on the school's
website. The expected total enrollment for September 2005 is
725 students.
PHILANTHROPY
Dean of Development and Alumni Relations Pete Ticconi
has decided to leave NMH to rejoin his family (he has been
a long-distance commuter for three years) and further
his career at Babson College in Boston as a senior gift
planning advisor. We will launch a national search immediately
for the next senior leader of our advancement team. Because
the search could take several months, Head of School Tom
Sturtevant will appoint an interim to oversee and manage
the development and alumni relations office after Pete
leaves on May 1.
