December E-news bulletin

NORTHFIELD STEWARDSHIP

On January 8, the Northfield stewardship committee of the board of trustees will meet with the Northfield campus advisors, a group of alumni and friends who have specific interests and expertise. Discussion topics include Northfield’s historical architecture and landscape, campus marketing initiatives, project ideas, and plans to celebrate the Northfield campus.

President Richard W. Mueller and Director of the Northfield Campus Initiative Carol Lebo met with town officials in November to update them on the status of the Northfield campus planning. To create synergies well beyond Northfield, active efforts are underway to connect planning with other projects throughout the Connecticut River Valley and Massachusetts. Local newspapers are monitoring NMH transition news.

FACILITIES PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Head of School Tom Sturtevant will announce the architect for the new arts center by the end of the month. Two exceptional finalists were interviewed by the buildings and grounds committee of the board in mid-December.

Long-term planning has begun for athletic facilities upgrades. Architectural Resources Cambridge, Inc. of Cambridge, MA, has been selected as master planner for athletics facilities. ARC designed Dolben Library, Blake Hall, and Bolger Arts Center.

Sasaki Associates of Boston, MA, is developing the campus landscape master plan.

Construction of the new dorms is on schedule. View photos on the NMH website.

PHILANTHROPY

A copy of the November letter to the school community announcing the board of trustees’ gift to the school and capital gifts to date, three new trustees, and an update on Northfield stewardship is now posted on the school website.
