Update from Director of Northfield Campus Initiative

Dear Northfield Campus Advisors and NMH Faculty and Staff,

As you know, six months ago NMH began a marketing effort to lease or sell the core of the Northfield Campus. A descriptive brochure was sent to all college presidents and secondary school heads in New England and New York as well as other entities from with whom we had prior contact. Close to 2,000 brochures were distributed. 

To date about 100 specific inquiries have been received, and there are currently over 70 with whom we have had conversation and beyond. Several very serious prospects have visited campus multiple times, accumulating information for a possible offer. No specific offer has been made. The board is developing strategies and conditions for negotiation when the first offer is received.

While the initial mailing was within the northeast, it is interesting to note that one-third of the inquiries have been from other states and countries. 

In the next few weeks a second, smaller mailing will be made to the other 43 states. The sample will be different, including state secretaries of education, regional NAIS affiliates, deans of graduate schools of education (with specific targeting to Columbia, Harvard, and Stanford), presidents or provosts of major universities, and others as recommended, but not all college presidents and secondary school heads.

This is where we ask your help. Please forward to me any contact or name of an institution to which you believe the mailing must go.  The school network throughout the country is amazing, yet each of us has our own set of contacts. We appreciate anything you can send my way.

Additionally, I want to remind you that I am the recipient and conduit for all questions, ideas, suggestions, complaints that come to us concerning the Northfield Campus. Occasionally I am caught short with an unanswered piece that never reached me, but then reverberates.

Thank you for you help. I remain confident that there is a very bright future for our Northfield campus.
